Examining the Deadliest Conflict in World History
September 25, 2006
On Friday, September 29, at 7pm, the Guilderland Public Library begins its innovative
series of scholar-led lectures on the world's deadliest conflict. World War II: Documentaries
and Discussion premieres with The German Background, an examination of the issues
and personalities that drove Germany to war. Presented by Dan S. White, PhD., Professor
of History at the University at Albany, SUNY, this lecture and discussion offer a wonderful
opportunity to learn more about this conflict that shaped the world we live in today. The next presentation in the series - The American Background -- is on Friday, October 6,
at 7 pm. Delving into pre-war (as far as Americans were concerned) Homefront issues, it
will address the many factors that eventually led to the country’s full mobilization to fight a
two-front war. The series continues through November 17. For more information, contact Mark Curiale, Public Information Specialist, Guilderland
