GPL Librarian is Namesake of Werewolf in Work of Teen Fiction
August 28, 2006

Trevor Oakley, Teen Librarian at the Guilderland Public Library, is not quite sure what he did to become the namesake of a werewolf in Vivian Vande Velde’s most recent anthology of short stories, All Hallows’ Eve, but he’s pleased by the honor.

“I first met Vivian when the Library hosted a series of parent-child discussion groups in 2004. She was the featured visiting author for that year’s series. After Vivian’s presentation, she and I spoke for a while. During our conversation she mentioned something about me and a book character, but that was pretty much it. And then, about three weeks ago, I received an autographed copy of All Hallows’ Eve. The inscription reads:

‘Wishing you a frightfully Happy Halloween. And, yes, the Trevor in Pretending is named after you!’”
