Howard Frank Mosher, award-winning author of ten books including Waiting for Teddy Williams, The True Account, and A Stranger in the Kingdom, will speak at the Guilderland Public Library on Friday, September 7, at 7:30 pm.
Mr. Mosher is marking the release of his latest novel, On Kingdom Mountain, by presenting a highly entertaining “Where in the World is Kingdom County?” multimedia event. Mr. Mosher’s new book tells the story of Miss Jane Hubbell Kinneson, an unforgettable eccentric bird carver who is the last remaining resident of a wild mountain on the U.S.-Canadian border. When a mysterious stunt pilot crashes at the foot of her mountain on her fiftieth birthday, he initiates a search for stolen Civil War gold. With action, comedy and even a passionate love affair, On Kingdom Mountain blends traditional storytelling with an offbeat take on Vermont lore.
On Kingdom Mountain has received wide praise, including this recent review: “A wonderful and quirky novel set in Northern Vermont in 1930 featuring a fascinating 50 year old woman with all her interesting characteristics. This is a novel packed with entertaining personages and generations of weird behavior. Thoughtful yet lots of fun.” – Library Journal
Mr. Mosher, a Vermont native, has received numerous prizes for his writing, notably the New England Book Award for fiction.
This free event is being held in cooperation with the Book House of Stuyvesant Plaza. Refreshments will be served.
